Mermaid
Maristela
This ethereal name, derived from Latin, signifies “star of the sea.” It’s a beautiful combination of ocean-inspired luminosity and celestial beauty.
My mission is a Legacy of love for self, others, & oceans. A Queen is only a Queen based on how she treats others
I was born human but discovered the sea at a young age. The first time I saw the ocean I was magnetically drawn towards it, as if it was already part of me. I discovered one day some precious jewels my grandmother Thalia had from Ecuador. She was once a mermaid queen who fell in love with an American human soldier and used this special stone from deep in the ocean to transform back and forth so she could be with him but also see her mer family who lived near the Galapagos islands, home of many ancient species, some yet to be discovered.
To unlock the power I had to wear the stone to the ocean, think of my ancestors, and recite a special poem to transform
I transformed and swam as a mermaid first at age 13 and I’ve been visiting the ocean ever since

Mermaid
Mary Jane
Don't let the seaweed in her hair or the treasures tucked into her tail fool you—Mermaid Mary Jane, or "Flower" as her friends call her, has a heart of gold. While other mermaids search for pearls and shiny shells, Flower loves collecting the curious things humans leave behind. Bottle caps become jewelry, old ropes become decorations, and forgotten treasures find a brand-new purpose in her underwater home.
Some merfolk wrinkle their noses and call her a "trash mermaid," but Flower simply smiles. She knows that with a little imagination, yesterday's garbage can become tomorrow's treasure. She loves teaching children about recycling, reusing, and keeping our oceans clean—because she'd much rather find interesting treasures than dangerous litter that can hurt her sea creature friends.
Flower is quirky, kind, and always ready to share a laugh. You never know what she'll pull out of her collection next, but one thing is certain: she'll leave you seeing trash in a whole new way.

Mermaid
Olivia
Mermaid Olivia has been entertaining the humans with various mermaid groups around the Ocean City area for several years. She loves sparkly and colorful things and sharing her love of sea creatures with curious land creatures! She has yet to meet a creature she hasn't liked from tiny bugs to big sharks!

Mermaid
Evanescent
Mermaid Evanescent (otherwise known as Eva) has been swimming around Anne Arundel rivers and joined the pod this year. She was stung by a sea urchin & fell ill for a few years & became a bit isolated during recovery. However, she has put in a lot of work to come out of her shell! She gained the power of camouflage when she wanted to hide away but now she uses it to occasionally appear human to help on land. Eva likes bringing comfort & joy to humans when not swimming. She sometimes visits ill children camouflaged as a warrior princess named She-Ra for a Baltimore area non-profit called Superhero Support Inc. Mermaid Eva wants to spread the joy of self acceptance , hope and courage in hard times while swimming to own current.

Mermaid/Pirate/Fairy
Maeve
Maeve is a warm water mermaid who enjoys visiting her land based friends. She enjoys making humans (both young and not quite as young) smile. When she gets to borrow some faerie magic and temporarily put on legs, Maeve likes to explore as a pirate and engage in harmless shenanigans. Her favorite sea creature friends are manta rays, seahorses, and sea turtles.
Maeve is a PADI Mermaid Instructor!

Mermaid/Pirate/Fairy
Blue Dragon Mer
Sealeigh, also as known as;"The Blue Dragon Mer" has swam to Ocean City from her home in the Indian Ocean. She enjoys seaing the tourists that migrate to the island and especially loves interacting with the small humans. She hopes to help them understand the beauty of the ocean and how to care for it so that her merfriends and the sealife around her stay happy and healthy.

Mermaid
Arna
Salveo! I am Arna and its wonderful to meet you all. I hail from a time long before you. While I used to spend my days in the Tiber River watching humans grow and change. I've witnessed language change from Latin to what it is now. While humans have changed, I try to keep to my ancient roots but also love to observe and learn the new ways of humans. Memento vivere!

Mermaid
Helena the Mermaid
Helena the mermaid isn't like the other mermaids, she was once human. Helena as a human had Charcot Marie Tooth, and had a very difficult time walking. Because of this, she needed a wheelchair. One day, Helena was on a pier next to the beach, watching the other people play and swim, when a beautiful seawitch rose from the water and turned Helena into a mermaid. After a few years living amongst the mermaids and learning their magic, she returned to land in the hope of spreading some mermaid joy to the other disabled humans. She has the ability to transform into a mermaid at will, but still needs the wheelchair when she's in her human form.
